SVGC is a nonprofit organization that for more than 30 years
has offered pre-competitive and competitive gymnastic instruction
for girls. Our parent led board of directors is responsible
for making business decisions and general business operations
for the benefit of our gymnasts. The governing board members
are parent volunteers and are nominated and elected by parents
of our gymnasts. Each board position is held for two years with
about half of the board elected each year. Parents also volunteer
for non-board positions to coordinate help with club events
and various duties. SVGC is a member of the USA Gymnastics and
the Northern California Women's Gymnastics Association.
The City of Sunnyvale provides partial sponsorship for our
club through their Special Agreement for Youth Sports program
by offering facility and equipment use at reduced rates. We
currently use the gym at the Raynor Activity Center in Sunnyvale
from Monday through Saturday.
Because SVGC is a parent run club, we depend on our families
to help with organizing and running of events, business duties,
and decisions. Each family is required to fulfill a set number
of volunteer hours per year. These hours can be simply fulfilled
by helping at team events, becoming a member of the board or
managing duty specific to the functioning of the club.
